The same toughness that makes concrete a valuable building material also makes it hard to cut. But with a tool like our Techmoon CNC waterjet, the difficult task of breaking down concrete into smaller sections becomes infinitely possible.
The best approach to cutting concrete usually involves the use of a high-pressure stream of water in tandem with an abrasive. Usually, the latter is made from inexpensive substances like silica glass and red garnet. When fractured, both materials form sharp edges that are excellent for cutting through other hard substances like concrete.
A waterjet machine pressurizes water between 20,000 and 60,000 pounds per square inch (psi) and forces the water through an inlet leading into a tiny orifice called a jewel. In an abrasive waterjet, as the water leaves the jewel, it creates a vacuum that draws abrasive into the stream from an adjacent injector called the abrasive line. The mixed water and abrasive then feed into a mixing tube surrounded by a protective guard.
The waterjet cutter is usually mounted on a steel base and carriage that enables you to adjust the aim. The water entering the machine is filtered and cooled by a chiller while the machine itself contains high-pressure pumps and intensifiers. Waterjet cutters typically feature a programmable controller so you can adjust the intensity of the water stream as it hits the concrete.
At Techmoon, we manufacture high-quality, state-of-the-art waterjets to your specifications. And the cost is thousands less than our nearest competitor. When you need a machine that can cut through the toughest concrete, or even steel, contact us!
