One of the best tools available for cutting stone materials such as granite is the Techmoon CNC abrasive water jet. This amazing cutter gives you the power and precision you need to cut a stone slab to exactly the size you need.
But as with everything else, preparation is key. To get the best results, you will need to do the following:
Clean material
You can remove dust using a soft cloth and water for basic cleaning. If, however, the stone has buildup on it, use a pH neutral soap, warm water and a soft cloth to remove everything. Wipe dry.
Position slab
Place the stone slab on cutting table. Depending on the type of pump you choose for your Techmoon machine, “cutting water” force can range from 55,000 to 65,000 PSI. So positioning your materials carefully is a must.
Outline cutting path
Using a piece of chalk and a measuring tape, mark the slab so you have a clear cutting path to follow.
Begin cutting
Align the water jet machine over the slab with the cutting nozzle directly above one end of the chalk mark. Turn the water jet on, starting with the lowest water pressure. Gradually increase the pressure until you see cuts in the slab. You can increase the pressure if you like, but keep it where you as operator are most comfortable.
Seal slab
The edges of your cut slab will be smooth. Adding sealant, especially if you are using granite, will gloss those edges over and protect fragile edges and corners.
